Cold Weather Comfort

December came and past in a whirlwind of holiday events and excitement. Seriously, I have not a clue where the month went. I spent the majority of 2015 looking forward to our very own Christmas vacation to St. Thomas, so when December finally came around, I began counting down the seconds until we left. Enter one holiday party and one stomach flu four days prior to my trip and that was a major downer. I was able to rally after two days of torture and enjoy our family vacation–hence the skin color other than deathly pale this time of year.

After a quick, "Oh, we should check our flight to make sure everything is still on time," at 11:30 PM on Christmas Eve, everything quickly went awry, landing us in a Ford Transit at 1:30 AM to catch a flight from Dayton, OH to Atlanta, GA instead of our original departure city of Indianapolis. Thank God for a husband who was willing to stay up nearly 24-hours and drive my mom, sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law to Dayton to catch a flight to the Virgin Islands without issues.

Enjoying 83 degree weather from December 25th to January 3rd was a dream, but now it's back to reality and 30-ish degree weather. Ugh. Even though I feel like my tan is quickly fading away, this outfit definitely helped keep my comfortable, cozy and ready to take on the workday. A perfectly cozy outfit - and perfect timing - for the #indybloggersseries of the month which is #cozyinindiana.

This oversized Free People cable sweater from Elysian & Co is the perfect starting piece to curate an outfit around. Large, comfortable and forgiving enough to hide the overabundance of rum punch and fried food I'm holding onto from vacation. #notkidding Add a pair of leggings, black over the knee boots and some layered necklaces (fabulous and handmade also from Elsyian & Co) and Alex + Ani bracelets and I'm set for the day.

Now, if I could just become a true islander, I will be set. This sweater could work for cool tropical nights, right? That might be a stretch, but hey, I'll take it!

Check out the hashtag #cozyinindiana to see how our fellow Indy bloggers are keeping cozy in the cold this winter!

  3. That sucks that you got sick but at least you were better by the time you had to leave for your trip! And kudos to your husband for staying up that late and being your driver! I'm jealous of your tropical vacation!

    1. I rarely get sick and that was probably one of the worst bugs I've had since I was in college. BUT, at least I made it though and was able to rest up before our vacation. I'm so thankful my husband didn't get sick or the late night driving would have been a no-go. Thanks for stopping by, Kacie!

    1. Thanks girl! It is the most perfect thickness. It's light enough to not feel bulky, but thick enough to keep you warm and cozy.

    1. Thanks girl! These layered necklaces are from a local Indiana boutique called Elysian & Co and I couldn't be more in love with them. It's safe to say I've worn them in almost nearly daily since I received them for Christmas.

    1. Twins! :) Beanies are the best in the winter! Slouchy and warm and so cute with most anything. I want to find one that's a thicker weave next.
