Winter Skin Remedies

Winter Skin Remedy

Can we for a quick second talk about how much I hate winter? I mean, sure the snow is pretty and when you get to play outside it's super fun. However dry, dull skin, static-infused hair and the need to layer on 17 items of clothing before going outside are not the most fun thing I can think of. Needless to say, tank top weather can not come soon enough for me. In the mean time, while the weather might be dull and dreary, your skin certainly doesn't have to be. My skin has been through the winter-ringer and I've compiled some of my faves to help you battle winter skincare concerns.

1 // Farmhouse Fresh Body Scrub: A good body scrub is a necessity year round, but definitely in the winter. Get ride of dully, flaky skin by sloughing off this unsightly layer. I have found that my fave body scrubs are oil based, like the one pictured above, and provide your skin with another added layer of moisture.

2 // Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial: I was recently introduced to the sleeping facial phenomenon while browsing Sephora for hydrating products, and this one my friends is nothing short of fabulous. The smell is amazing and leaves your face feeling smooth, supple and oh-so-moisturized.

3 // The Body Shop Almond Body Butter: Like I said, I struggle with ridiculously dry skin year round, but have found that when I use this consistently, my skin stays moisturized longer and has a lovely glow to it. The consistency is super thick and just what the doctor ordered for this girl's dry skin.

4 // LUSH Ro's Argan Body Conditioner: I don't know about you guys, but I love LUSH products, and could drool over the delicious scents of their bath bombs. When I need a little extra hydration, I turn to this product. Think of it just as you would your hair conditioner. It helps make your skin feel silky smooth, just like your hair conditioner would.

5 // LUSH The Olive Branch Shower Gel: Alright stylish friends, I'm extending the olive branch and sharing with you one of my faves. This skin softening organic olive oil shower gel helps to soothe dry skin unlike any shower gel I've tried. The yummy smell isn't too shabby either.

So you're probably looking at this list and thinking, "What in the hell? How is this girl not a walking greasy mess?" Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing as I was looking at all of these products. But alas, my face is oily/combination, my body is dry...I'm just a big hot mess over here. What can I say?

  1. My skin in the WORST right now. It's so bad that I really hate showering because it makes it so much worse! I have to always make sure to massively lotion up which DOES make me feel like a greasy mess for five minutes and then bam! I'm all good.

    1. Ha! I feel your pain Alissa! Winter makes my skin so dry and gross and showering makes it even worse. I totally feel like a greasy mess until everything is soaked in but it's such a great feeling to not have tight, dry skin that I'll take the greasy look instead. Ha!

  2. I have the worst winter skin. The problem is almost EVERYTHING makes my face breakout. I've tried a number of hypoallergenic and "gentle" facial moisturizers and everything ends in a breakout. The only thing that works on my face is BB cream. During the winter I just layer it on. It's so ridiculous lol

    1. Omygosh that would be awful! Have you ever tried the Boscia line at Sephora? It's super gentle and they have a purifying gel cleaner that doesn't strip your skin of its natural oils. Definitely give it a shot. It works really well for me and I have psoriasis and dry skin. :)

    1. Isn't it awesome!? I went into Sephora looking for a night cream and left with samples of the Korres sleeping facial and an Algenist night cream and fell in love with both. I wake up with moisturized skin and super soft skin. Definitely check out the LUSH products. They are amazing too!

    1. It is amazing Sarah! If you live near a Sephora, ask for a sample of it and give it a try before you buy it. I am telling you, it is amazing! My skin was so soft and the wild rose fragrance is so yummy.

  5. I wish I lived closer to a lush store. I love their products but I always like to test in store before I buy.

    1. I'm 50/50 on the try before you buy game. Sometimes I will impulse buy products and it will totally work in my favor, other times I'll be super mad at myself for buying them without testing first. But in my opinion, I haven't found a LUSH product that hasn't worked out well yet.
