Jaime's Top 10 Fall Style Staples

Fall 2014 Must-Haves

Let me be honest here, I'm in no hurry to usher summer out the door and welcome fall because I know shortly after that I have to deal with winter. Since I'm a Midwest girl, that means snow, super cold days and did I mention snow? Come on now, who really WANTS to drive in snow, like ever? Not this girl. If I had the luxury of enjoying it with a hot cup of tea from the comfort of my couch, then bring it on winter.

It totally sounds like I hate fall, but I love the season probably as much as I love summer. While I hate putting away my summer tanks and flip flops, I love breaking out boots, sweaters and scarves. Which gets me back to my main point–my must-have fall staples:

one // Quilted Vests: these vests are amazing on cold winter days and are even better because they can be dressed up or dressed down depending upon how you feel that day. I can't wait to wear this J.Crew beauty!

two // Double Print Scarves: I saw this Tory Burch scarf and knew that it had to be mine. Stripes and leopard? I'll take it! I've seen variations with plaid and polka dots, and dueling plaids too. Snatch one up and add it to your winter rotation. {Pro tip: I got mine on eBay for a fraction of the cost!}

three // Longer Blouse/Tunic Tops: if there is any fashion rule I follow, it's this one–leggings are not pants. They are basically a thicker pantyhose in my mind and require a longer top. Come on people! It's super simple to throw on a longer top and call it a day, which is why I've invested in several different varieties of this top for fall and winter.

four // Oversize & Loose Knit Sweaters: when it comes to my personal style, I'd rather have things look tailored and fitted, but for some reason this fall I'm excited by the trend of oversized sweaters and chunky knits. Call me crazy but I'd totally wear this Free People sweater CONSTANTLY with leggings, coated denim and jeans and boots.

five // Plaid Scarf: I know, I know, no need to make this a separate call out, but I am currently on the hunt for an amazing plaid scarf.

six // Fur Vest: faux or real, it's going to be a winter staple. I mean seriously, how glam is a fur vest? Answer, very! I'm attempting to find one that's more a waterfall shape (as see above) so if you've got any pointers, I'm all ears.

seven // Tall Riding Boots: I got my first pair of Frye boots a couple of Christmas's ago and I completely fell in love with them. However, note to readers: there were many of times last winter that I decided to wear these when it was icy out. Short version: it's no bueno. The boots may be stylish, but the smooth leather bottoms aren't the most ice-friendly out there. Ha!

eight // Leopard Heels: Calf hair. Leopard. Heels. Need I say more? There are so many ways to wear this modern neutral!

nine // Leather Leggings or Coated Denim: or both in my case! Both of these styles are versatile enough for an casual office setting or a night out. My faves were purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but still can be found online here and here.

ten // Moto Jacket: I've been seeing these everywhere and while I love the shape, I haven't purchased one yet. Both Kacie and I are still on the hunt for the perfect color combo.

You've seen my picks for fall, what are some of yours? I'd love to see what styles you're obsessing over this fall!
