Kacie's Fall 2014 Must-Haves

Have I mentioned how much I love Fall?? Chai lattes, homemade apple crisp, beautiful Fall foliage and the impending holiday season make it the best time of the year –– not to mention boots, jackets, and scarves! Speaking of Fall fashion, here are some of the items I'm currently coveting...

Fall 2014 Must-Haves

- Boots -
Above the knee, below the knee, booties, heeled, flat –– I don't discriminate when it comes to boots, I love them all! I found these adorable booties on a lunchbreak trip to Target and couldn't believe how comfortable they were! I need a good pair of both black and brown above the knee boots (I'm loving these) but booties are a great transition into the cold-weather season.

- Plaid Scarf -
Scarves are the best way to add a little flare to a plain tee and jacket, and a plaid scarf is even better! I recently bought this adorable plaid and polka dot scarf and can't wait to wear it this Fall!

- Field Jacket -
A go-to jacket is a must when the weather starts to get crisp. The Madewell jacket is amazing but if you're looking for something a little less expensive, this option form Old Navy is amazing. I know, because I own it.

- Floppy Felt Hat -
I am soooo not a hat person, but I am craving a floppy felt hat! I think I need to break out of my comfort zone and just buy one already!

- Teal Bag -
I'm also craving a fun, fall bag. It seems like the perfect bright to add to a Fall outfit, and who doesn't love fun zipper detailing??

- Fall Statement Necklace -
Time to put away those neon and pastel pretties and start investing in statement necklaces that are more appropriate for the season. The Gigi from Le Boutique is totally swoon-worthy!

- Leopard Pumps -
I have a feeling that leopard print is going to be all the rage this Fall and a good leopard pump is the perfect way to dress it up. I work in an office so anyway I can incorporate fun prints into my style is a win!

- Coated Denim -
If you have yet to foray into the leather legging trend, I recommend trying the coated denim first! They have the right amount of sheen without being over-the-top. Although, I do plan to try the leather leggings this year...wish me luck on that here in the middle of Indiana!

Sweet Addiction.

Tee: Salt & Pepper | Jeans: Hollister | Shoes: Forever 21 | Necklace: ILY Couture (similar) | Bracelet: Alisa Michelle | Bag: Aldo | Sunglasses: old

My name is Kacie and I am addicted to Diet Coke. Even my kitty is addicted to Diet Coke, see??

Seriously, how amazing is this tee?? When I saw it, I knew I had to have it and I also knew it would get lots of wear. In fact, I already have some ideas on how I can layer with it this fall. I wore this casual look to the office on Friday and decided to mix it up with leopard sneakers and a big crystal necklace. It was super comfy and I got lots of compliments on it...clearly I'm not the only one with said addiction.

In(vest)ing in Fall Style

Dress: Dillards (old) Vest: Ebay | Necklace: Forever 21 (old) | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelet: InPink | Sandals: Zigi Soho | Bag: Michael Kors

It's that time of year where it's still summer, but it feels awkward to wear super-summery pieces. In fact, I have already started stockpiling fall clothing and I can't wait to wear them! In an effort to mix fall and summer style, I created the look above. A summery black and white striped dress (I love the puffy sleeves - it even has shoulder pads, ha!) with an army vest (remember it from this post?) and bold accessories made for the perfect compromise! How are you incorporating fall pieces into your late summer style?

LBD Style

Wearing – Dress: French Connection {Old, similar} | Shoes: BCBG Max Azria | Necklace: Ily Couture {old} | Bracelets: Olive + Piper, Mindy's Minute Market
Watch: Vince Camuto

Every fashionable girl needs a little black dress–aka LBD–in their style arsenal. In my mind, it's non-negotiable. I have so many black dresses in different styles I can't even begin to name them, but they are perfect, regardless of season, and can be worn to pretty much any event you can think of. Not to mention, if you buy a black jersey dress, the style can be dressed up or down to your liking. I found this dress originally on Piperlime and the shape and overall fit of the dress were too good to pass up. Enjoy this LBD style! Who agrees with me? Can you really ever have too many?

Peplum, Pearls & Lace

Wearing - Top: Papaya {sold out–similar here) | Shorts: TJ Maxx | Shoes: Steve Madden | Bracelets: Olive + Piper, Mindy's Minute Market | Watch: Vince Camuto

You probably remember my debacle from traveling earlier this June to San Antonio, accompanied by my lost luggage and scramble to find clothing to wear to the trade show's evening networking hour. If not–here's a refresher. By happy accident, I was able to find something to wear fairly quickly and left San Antonio with a suitcase that was slightly heavier. But this top from Papaya was my find of the day and paired perfectly with the hot Texas weather the week I was there.

I took these photos at the beginning of July and just ran across them, realizing I hadn't posted them yet. I wore this outfit to my sister's open house and strangely enough, my mom, sister and I all decided to be a black and white outfitted trio. So the group photos are pretty funny, but unfortunately they turned out to be very blurry. However, you can still enjoy my look!

Fun with Flowers

Wearing - Top: Nordstrom {Same available here} | Pants: Old Navy {Old, Similar} |
Shoes: Totally stole from my sister's closet | Necklace: Dottie Couture Boutique {old} |
Bracelets: Mindy's Minute Market, Olive + Piper | Watch: Vince Camuto

While these aren't the greatest portrayal of me {yikes to the top photo where I look short and squatty thanks to the camera angle}, I had to use them to showoff my furry photo bomber, Lola. To understand why I wanted to use these photos, regardless of the angle, I have to rewind to earlier this Spring. I was shopping at Nordstrom with a friend and saw this Free People tank and knew I HAD to have it. However, I didn't really want to pay $78 for a tank when there were plenty of other summer styles I also wanted to purchase. So I went to my go-to, eBay, to see if someone had listed it yet. I managed to quickly find it, new with tags, for $19.99–the only caveat was that the strap had come unsewn from the top. I quickly snatched it up and had the strap sewn back on {side note: I can't sew to save my life, and sadly turn to my husband to sew buttons back on}. I'd say I was the winner of that deal! I've gotten so much wear out of this top compared to what I spent on it. It just goes to show you that there are deals everywhere, you just have to be willing to look. Enjoy this look, and my favorite furry friend!

Staying Neutral

Wearing - Top: J.Crew Factory | Skirt: Francesca's {available in store only, similar here} |
Necklace: Baublebar, Tiffany & Co | Bracelet: David Yurman 1, 2 | Watch: Michael Kors
Ring: David Yurman | Shoes: BCBG Max Azria

Does this skirt look familiar? I thought so. That would be because I showcased it dressed up last week, but don't worry I'd still wear it everyday if it was socially acceptable. Ha! While I would have loved to wear it with my crop top again, that look really isn't office acceptable yet in Indiana. So for a more office-friendly style, and dressed down look, I paired this fab skirt with a simple J.Crew tshirt and silver accessories. But don't worry, my love for shoes won out and I added a pair of neutral-tone snakeskin heels to the mix, instead of wearing flats.

Workplace attire definitely trumps my need for style sometimes, but I do have my go-to tops, skirts and pants that are workplace approved. What are some of your fave pieces that transition from workplace chic to casual cool?

Neon, Leopard & Army

Tee: Target | Vest: Ebay | Jeans: Delias | Necklace: Forever 21 | Bracelet: Alisa Michelle | Purse: Target | Shoes: Forever 21 | Sunglasses: Nordstrom | Hair tie: old (ha!)

Fall is coming and I cannot tell you how excited that makes me. I live for fall! But it seems like we're in that strange transition period where you feel like you can't really wear peak-of-summer pieces but it's too early to pull out the boots. I wore this casual outfit to work a few Fridays ago and while I still added a fun pop of neon, the army vest, long denim and leopard print shoes had an autumn-esque feel, don't you think?

Not Your Mama's Prom Dress

...except that it is. That's right, I'm wearing my mom's prom dress in this post and I can prove it right here (yep, and that's my dad too). A few years ago while my mom was cleaning out closets, we came across this dress and naturally, I had to try it on. It fit perfectly so my crafty mama suggested we make some alterations and here it is as you see it below! I love this extra special dress with its velour corset top, floral print and lace. And the best part? It has POCKETS! Dresses with pockets are the best - seriously! Not to mention that it is the perfect color for the end of summer/beginning of fall.
