Casual Style with Destroyed Denim

Sometimes a girl just wants to be casual. After getting back from vacation, I wanted to wear something comfortable, yet stylish to work so I landed on this look–destroyed knee ankle jeans, jersey drape cardigan and a super cute tank. I finished off this look with a pair of Toms and my scroll sunglasses. Check out my workday chic below:

Just Beachin'

Recently I left the frigid temps in Indiana and headed south to the land of sun, sand and tasty cocktails–the U.S. Virgin Islands. My family and I began going to St. Thomas my senior year in high school {Yikes, was that really 11 years ago?}, and we fell in love with the island. Everything from the family-run hotel we stay at to the beach, shopping and experience is absolutely amazing. It was only fitting that we bring the tradition full circle and spend my sister’s senior spring back in the islands. So off we went!

I must mention also that the island is even more special to me as my husband and I said our “I do’s” there on the beach in 2010. Every time we go back to St. Thomas we’re eager to see our friends and hit up our favorite spots for rest, relaxation and did I mention delicious drinks?
Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, St. Thomas, USVI
Iggies Beach Bar, St. Thomas, USVI
Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, St. Thomas, USVI
Heavenly Days Catamaran, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, St. Thomas, USVI
Floating in Sandy Spit, British Virgin Islands
White Bay & Soggy Dollar Bar, Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands
Dinner Night! Lobster Grille, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, St. Thomas, USVI
Sunset Sail in Charlotte Amalie aboard the Heavenly Days catamaran, St. Thomas, USVI
Final Night in the islands - Mim's Seaside Bistro, St. Thomas, USVI

Did I mention how much I love traveling? While I love going to new places and having all new experiences, I love coming to St. Thomas and always look forward to our next trip no matter how far away it is.

On Wednesdays We Wear Stripes...

The weather has *finally* been beautiful in Indy this week, which is thoroughly exciting! This not-quite hot, not-quite cold weather has thrown me for a loop and has been making it a lot harder for me to decide on my outfit each day. Jeans and a light jacket have been my go-to but I can't wait to start throwing in some short sleeves and dresses.

Kacie's Look Includes: Blazer (similar) | Tee | Skinny Ankle Denim | Heels | Watch | Infinity Bracelet | Crystal Botanica Necklace (similar)

It's a joke around the office that Jaime and I always happen to come into work dressed nearly identical, completely unplanned. Whether it's just a similar color palette, the same print/pattern, or the exact same item, it's never a surprise to the two of us! On this particular day, we both wore stripes and the Crystal Botanica Necklace by ILY Couture.

Right now I'm looking forward to moving into my new house this weekend, is it Friday yet??

Let It Go {And Show Your Personal Style}

I'll admit I've not always been as eager as I am now to try out new styles and trends, but anymore I'm excited to branch out of my comfort zone and experiment with trends while adding new pieces to my style arsenal. I've truly "Let It Go" as the t-shirt phrase reads. I've let go of a lot of insecurities as I've grown into my style and I couldn't be more excited.

The phrase "Let It Go" may appear to be from the Disney movie Frozen, but it hits a little closer to home for me. My sister Bailey–who passed away in 2011 from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)–made this phrase her mantra, inspiring those around her to let it go and be appreciative of even the small things in life. Naturally you'll understand why I can't help but gravitate to anything that says this phrase. It puts a smile on my face just thinking of her. While Bailey is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in her foundation, the Bailey R. Moore Foundation. Enjoy this my outfit of the day and hopefully a small piece of my story can inspire you to "Let it go, B Moore".
(Excuse the blurry hand, we were having a moment with the wind.)

Black, White & Ruffled All Over

Some days getting dressed for work is a challenge. However, on the days when I have new clothes or accessories to wear, I feel invigorated and can't wait to put together my outfit and show off my new purchases. Today was one of those days of pure excitement! After stumbling upon the site Goodnight Macaroon, I fell in love with this top and couldn't wait to get it in the mail. As I anxiously awaited its arrival, I plotted what I would wear it with and the number of ways I could style it.

This look is the first of many that are to come, I'm sure. This outfit came together in my head perfectly! With the striped pattern and ruffled hemline, I felt like the top should be the showstopping piece to the outfit. Therefore I paired it with black coated skinnies, nude heels and sparkling accessories to complete today's look.

I must also admit, not only have I fallen in love with this shirt, but Goodnight Macaroon might be one of my new favorite go-to's. There are several things I'd like to add to my fashion arsenal, like this fantastic striped dress or this draped wrap top. What do you think of this look? Have any of you seen the amazing designs available at Goodnight Macaroon?

Pretty As A Peacock: Navy Blue & Emerald Green

After a week long vacation in the Virgin Islands, I was hoping to come home to sunny, warm Indiana days and the beginning of Spring-like weather. However, what I came home to was overcast haze and rain. YAY! However, instead of letting the dreary weather damper my mood, I opted to continue my vacation high and add a pop of color to my outfit of the day.

Prior to my vacation, I had been eyeballing this bright bell skirt at Anthropologie. So the day before I left I went and bought it while silently cheering to myself because I had saved on shipping costs. I had initially planned on taking it on our trip, but at the last second pulled it out of my suitcase to save for after the trip. Check out how I incorporated this waist cinching, yet super comfortable skirt with a pair of floral wedges and fun chunky jewelry.

While I'm still wishing I was on vacation in the islands, I'm happy to be home and back to my normal routine.

Birthday Style

Well this week has been quite busy for me! Not only am I closing on my first home hopefully at the end of this week, but I also celebrated my birthday. While I am definitely not big on birthdays, my friends, family and co-workers made my day extra special. It was a little rainy in the morning so we were forced to stay in the office for these photos –– I apologize in advance for the poor quality, they didn't turn out the best!

Don't you just love finding old treasures in the back of your closet? I found this ruffly rosette top in my closet that I haven't worn in years, and same with the necklace. It paired perfectly with this great cream colored jacket and these new snakeskin heels –– both of which are from Target!

Jaime is on vacation this week (lucky!!) but she's promised to come back with some amazing outfit posts for us next week!

Regal Faves | Kacie's Top Hair Picks

A while back, Jaime did a post on her favorite hair products (see here), and I thought it was time I shared some of my own. My hair is a little tricky as it is dry towards the front of my head and tends to be on the oily side towards the crown –– I like to say I have “combination hair”. Take a look below at how I’m currently controlling my mane.

Top Picks for Mane Management

Although I like to switch up my hair products and try new things, I always seem to keep coming back to one line: CHI. It makes my hair shiny and manageable without adding weight and making it greasy. The Farouk Royal Treatment shampoo and conditioners are amazing! I love the Pure Hydration shampoo (although I’m currently using the Real Straight shampoo) and always the Aqua Charge conditioner. I’ve found that I have to use a cleansing shampoo such as Herbal Essences Drama Clean first to cleanse away the oil, and then follow up with my heavier moisturizing shampoo and conditioners for the perfect clean!

Before drying, I add a little mousse along my part to give it some lift, and spray CHI Keratin Mist on the length of my hair. This product helps to strengthen my hair and adds some extra conditioning before the heat of my blow dryer. I also like Neuma Blow Dry Lotion or Shuga Leave In Conditioner –– both great products! Since my hair tends to be pretty flat on top, I dry my hair upside down for more volume.

Before I straighten, I apply CHI 44 Iron Guard which is a thermal protectant spray. Surprisingly, my straightener is not CHI. I absolutely cannot live without my Brocato Vibrastrait Flat Iron! It vibrates as you pull the straightener through your hair so you don’t have to apply as much pressure, which ultimately prevents breakage. I finish with CHI Shine Infusion spray, always making sure to avoid the crown of my head (makes it too oily), and voilĂ ! I try to wash my hair every other day so when I'm on "Day Two", I spray on Sally Hershberger Caffeine. It's a volumizing spray, dry shampoo and finishing hair spray all in one!

What products are you using to contain your hair’s natural tendencies?

Regal Faves | 5 Blogger Looks I’m Loving This Spring

While Indiana still hasn’t decided if it would like to have spring this year, I’ve been living vicariously through my favorite style bloggers and enjoying their light and colorful spring looks and gorgeous sunny photos. Every morning I review my Bloglovin’ feed to see what’s new and file away the key pieces and trends that I would like to incorporate into my own spring looks. Here are just a few of the ones I’m loving this season so far, so be sure to check them out and follow their feed on Bloglovin'!

For those of you who are like me and are not going on a spring vacation, this look may have to wait until summer, but oh my, how I love it! Blair from Atlantic-Pacific looks absolutely stunning in this ruffled crop top, navy and white striped swing skirt, pumps, and a floppy hat. And the title of this post couldn’t be more perfect, as this look most definitely has some southern charm!

It’s safe to say that I love pretty much every outfit that Jade of A Spoonful of Style puts together. This one is a recent favorite of mine; I just love the polished pops of color and bling with the edginess of the distressed denim. It has inspired me to invest in more statement jewelry pieces and fun, colored pumps so stay tuned for appearances of these items in outfit posts to come.

I’ve never been a huge fan of the floral trend, but this spring I’m really feeling it. Emily, the blogger behind The Sweetest Thing, really knocked it out of the park with this look! I love the combo of a tailored blouse (and what a unique neckline!) and brightly colored floral blazer with slouchy boyfriend denim and a bright lip. I think I’m finally inspired to purchase a pair of boyfriend jeans!

Another fun look that’s getting my fashion juices flowing this spring is this one by McKenna of McKenna Bleu. Here she complements a white on white ensemble with flashes of metallic gold. It’s fresh and it’s feminine and I’m a huge fan!

I tend to adore the dressier looks from my fave bloggers but this casual look by The Freckled Fox is way too cute not to mention. I love the laidback feel of this outfit with its oversized tee, wedges, and panama hat. I can totally see myself wearing something like this on the weekend.

What are your favorite blogger looks right now? I always love meeting new bloggers and following their fashionable journeys online so sound off below!
