- Set small goals for yourself, whether it be in trips to the gym or in increments of weight loss. But keep in mind, the scale doesn’t always show your progress–judge your progress on how your clothes are fitting.
- Mix it up. When your body acclimates to your routine, you may see a decline in results. Try to change up your regimen regularly for muscle confusion.
- Water. Water. Water. Your body can send out mixed signals making you think you are hungry, when it fact you just need to slurp some water. Also, if you are shooting for weight loss, cutting out soda/sugary drinks can help move you towards your goal.
- Just because you are watching what you eat doesn’t mean you should deprive yourself of the good stuff; just be weary of your calorie intake. For example, if you know you are going to have a big, not-so-healthy dinner, cut back on snacks that day or have a lighter lunch to accommodate your indulgence.
- Find a motivator. Exercise can be daunting at times, so keep your motivation in mind and reward yourself once you’ve reached a small goal. For example, buy a pair of jeans a size too small now and work towards your goal of fitting into them.
