Fresh Faced, Natural Beauty
Iconic brand, Chanel, kept each of their model’s makeup looking natural and fresh faced, allowing their true beauty to shine through. To achieve this look, I suggest opting for the Make Up For Ever complexion starter kit to help give your skin the natural, almost airbrushed look. The kit provides a base primer, HD invisible cover foundation and an HD microfinish powder to help complete your flawless look. I finish this look with a blush that has a peach-base to it, such as NARS fan-favorite orgasm and a light pink or nude shade of lipstick. To go one step further, you could always create a bold brow using Elizabeth Arden’s famed Beautiful Color Brow Shaper.Ladylike Chic: Matte Lips and Lined Eyes
During the Badgely Mischka show, models took the runway sporting a timeless ladylike look, featuring bold matte red lips, a flawless complexion and lined eyes. This look is personally one of my favorite looks. There’s just something about red lipstick, that when used properly, conveys an air of sophistication and grace. To achieve this look you can build upon the Make Up For Ever complexion kit using deep black eyeliner and heavy mascara. While I love eyeliner, not all products are created the same. My personal favorite is the Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner. After using this one time, I fell in love. You’ll love the bold color and ease of application. It gives you the appearance of using a liquid liner without the mess. After all, who has times to take everything off and reapply? Next up is another makeup favorite, Dior’s Diorshow mascara. This mascara truly gives you the swoon-worthy feathery lashes that look both lengthened and voluminous. Finish off this look with the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl and you’re well on your way to portraying this classic look. The Sultry, Smokey Eye
During Donna Karan’s fall show, models donned a modernized dark smokey eye that gave each model a provocative, yet stunning look. I don’t know about you, but I’m always trying to achieve the perfect smokey eye when I have a chance to dress up for a night out. For me, its the perfect finishing touch! Be careful though, this look isn’t a good one for daytime. To achieve this sultry look, first apply your eye primer of choice to help keep your eye shadow in place. My favorite has always been Urban Decay’s Primer Potion–not only is the packaging fun, but the product is amazing! To start your shadow layering, I suggest starting to apply your lighter shade to your eyelid, whether you are choosing a black/charcoal hue or tones of purple, and then lightly applying your darker shade from the middle to the outer corners of your eye. Trust me when I say, you’re not going to look like a raccoon, it just takes some practice to figure out which shades and shapes best flatter your features. (For a chart of shapes, see the image below.) Add a little of the darker shadow, or eye liner if you prefer, to your lower lashline and mascara and this look is almost complete. When wearing a smokey eye, always go with more subtle facial makeup and a less dramatic lip color – think a nude or neutral shade of your choice.
I’ve always been a proponent for trying to makeup trends. Do you plan on incorporating any of these fall makeup trends into your routine? Let us know which looks you prefer for everyday and your nights out on the town.
